If you are a developer or designer interested in creating more accessible housing options for Canadians, check out CMHC’s MLI Select program is an innovative new multi-unit mortgage loan insurance product focused on affordability, accessibility, and climate compatibility. It uses a point system to offer insurance incentives based on affordability, energy efficiency, and accessibility. Incentives are available for new construction and existing properties.
The Apartment Construction Loan Program provides low-cost funding to eligible borrowers during the riskiest phase of development: construction through to stabilized operations. The program offers loans ranging from a minimum of $1,000,000 up to 100% of the cost of the residential component of a project. The program focuses on standard rental, seniors housing and student housing projects in Canada where there is a need for additional rental housing supply.
Marnie Courage, CEO of Incluzia sits on the technical committee for the CSA/ASC B-652-23 Accessible Dwellings Standard and leads Incluzia’s collaborative accessibility consultation team who can help you reach your housing project goals, optimizing design and occupant outcomes. We have an in-depth knowledge and understand the MLI Select and ACLP program technical requirements for both public spaces and private dwellings to help you and your team navigate the standards, guidelines and other requirements to qualify for the accessibility components in these programs. Our consolation and resulting Accessibility Attestation are helping applicants achieve the required points they need to be successful in these funding programs.
