Meaningful change takes time. The need to weave accessible housing into the fabric of society is like that. There is much work to be done with creating a common language when it comes to accessible housing, improving building code, promoting CSA standard adoption, providing incentives for builders, creating access to community-based care and certainly establishment of a national home modification program. Older adults and people with disabilities have voiced the need, and research has revealed national accessible housing priorities.
There are many stakeholders that need to work together at the nexus of health and housing to make it happen.
Incluzia is the voice, the driver and the conduit to advance accessible housing in Canada. Innovation, education and collaboration are the pillars of how Incluzia is moving forward. The conversation is growing, and the voices are getting heard.
